Skin Lightening Treatment With Chemical Peeling

There is a myth that skin lightening process is conducted to achieve a fairer skin. But it’s not true. Skin lightening is conducted to make your skin flawless and to get rid of scars, spots and pigmentations on the skin. Now a days, various treatment options are available for skin lightening. Common procedures like laser treatment help you to achieve a fairer looking skin. Another procedure highly recommended by experts is chemical peeling. Let’s move on to find how chemical peeling works on the skin.

All about chemical peeling

A chemical peel is a procedure that helps you to achieve a flawless looking skin within a short period of time. In this process, a solution is applied to the skin that tends to peel off after few minutes. This solution helps to stimulate new collagens and enables skin growth. Meanwhile, the existing dead cells fall off the skin. And finally, you can get a new healthy looking flawless skin.

It should be noted that not every procedure is applicable for every skin type. Chemical peels mostly work on fair to medium skin tone. At our clinic, at first, we conduct a thorough check-up of the skin type and colour and then proceed with the treatment.

What benefits one can get from this treatment?

  • Helps you to get rid of dark patches and pigmentations.
  • It can treat acne to a great extent. Also, acne marks will get reduced through this treatment.
  • Rejuvenates your skin and the skin starts glowing soon after the treatment.
  • It has no particular side effect on light to medium skin tone people.

Vitiligo is a common disease condition that can affect anyone irrespective of age, gender etc. It occurs due to the deficiency of melanocytes, the cells which are responsible for the production of melanin, the factor that pigments the skin. We, at Dr Musthaq’s Skin Clinic and Cosmetic Centre, provides the PUVA phototherapy as the primary treatment when the spread of vitiligo is above 20%. Psoralen, when provided as an oral medicine along with the UVA phototherapy, results in big changes to the skin affected by vitiligo. It can make the skin more sensitive to light and inhibit the skin cell proliferation.

Lasers are also used in the leucoderma treatment. Excimer lasers can be more effective and safe in repigmentation. Excimer lasers use ultraviolet light in lower and safer doses in the affected areas. The treatment can last for 2-6 months. Pulsed dye laser uses an organic dye mixed in a solvent as the lasing medium to deliver the energy optimized for the vitiligo treatment.

Rather than treating the depigmented areas, at Dr Musthaq’s clinic, we are also providing treatments for depigmentation of the unaffected skin to match with the depigmented skin. Having the best word in vitiligo treatment in Cochin, we refer this treatment only to those who have been affected by more than 50% of vitiligo.

When only smaller patches of skin have been affected, autologous grafts, the skin grafts from different parts of one’s own body will be used to cover up the depigmented patches of skin affected by vitiligo.

Dr Musthaq’s Skin Clinic and Cosmetic Centre promises to provide you with the best skin care treatment in Kerala at affordable rates for those who have been worrying about the skin problems and cosmetics rectifications you have always wanted. What causes Acne?

Acne is a single term used to address certain varieties of skin ailments. Acne's differ in severity depending on the type. When an excess of bacteria, dead skin cells and sebum block the hair follicles, acne is formed.

Here are some general causes of acne:

Hormonal changes: The hormonal levels show a fluctuation during the adolescent period. The skin produces an excess of sebum when the hormonal levels rise and this leads to an acne breakout.

Hereditary factors: Hereditary also has a role in acne development. If your parents or grandparents suffered from such an issue, you are more likely to go through it as well.

Tension and stress: While stress cannot be linked directly to skin problems, it does have an indirect effect on our skin as it triggers acne formation. Due to stress, our body releases hormones called androgens and cortisol, and the fluctuation of such hormones will lead to the production of oil in large quantities. This leads to acne development or breakout.

What are the different types of acne?

Acne appears on the skin when the sebaceous glands are infected. There are various kinds of acne.

Non-inflammatory Acne:

Noninflammatory acnes are differentiated and described using comedones. There are open and closed comedones.

Blackheads: They are open comedones as their pores are open and are seen on the surface of the skin. The sebum inside the open pores oxidizes when in contact with the air, resulting in hardened sebum and the air mixing with melanin to form blackheads.

Whiteheads: They are closed comedones. Here the pores are covered by a thin layer of skin, which leads to the accumulation of sebum and dead skin forming a thick plug under the skin. Bacteria will attack the skin cells around the pores and whiteheads appear.

Inflammatory acne:

Inflammatory acnes are a bit more severe and treatment is difficult. They are caused by P.acne bacteria infecting the pores. There are four types of inflammatory acnes.

Papules: Papules are hard pimples that do not contain pus. They appear as swollen red color pimples surrounded by inflamed tissues.

Pustules: Pustules are pimples containing white blood cells. It also contains pus which is a collection of white blood cells trying to fight bacteria.

Nodules:  They appear as large bumps under the skin and happen during the last stages of a breakout. They are much more severe than the others and tend to stay longer. They are formed as a result of a buildup of sebum, bacteria and skin cells underneath the skin. They do not contain pus.

Cysts: It is very hard to get rid of this type of acne. You need to choose the perfect treatment for it. Cysts from deep underneath the skin and appear as red bumps on the skin. They do not contain pus but are very painful.
